The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar had appeared in 78 IPL matches and scored 2334 runs with a fine average of 34.8. He is recognised as the greatest Cricketer of all time in cricket history.
Sachin had played many fantastic knocks for Mumbai Indians. He had led Mumbai Indians for four editions until 2012 and was later replaced by the spin wizard Harbhajan Singh. He had taken Mumbai Indians two times in the play-offs but couldn’t make it to the trophy. The core group of Mumbai Indians had been designed by Sachin, which later stayed together and was involved in all sorts of victories.
He had a dream to make the team victorious in the tournament, but it, unfortunately, remained unfulfilled. He scored a lone century in the Indian Premier League against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. Though he couldn’t succeed MI in the trophy win, he made crucial and enormous contributions with the bat for his team.
Let’s take a look at his top 5 knocks in IPL, which had become historic moments later.
#1 100*(66) MI vs KTK in 2011
The only century that Sachin has scored in IPL came against Kochi Tuskers Kerala. He had played 66 deliveries and stayed not out at the score of 100. He had hit 12 fours and 3 sixes in that knock. The Long partnership of Ambati Rayudu – Tendulkar had taken Mumbai to 182/2. But, Kochi had won the game easily with 8 wickets to spare, with the assistance of magical knocks from Brendon McCullum and skipper Mahela Jayawardene. However, the poor bowling line-up had cost hefty for Mumbai Indians in the whole season of IPL 2011. Watch the innings here and come back.
#2 89*(59) MI vs RR in 2010
The second highest figures of Sachin Tendulkar had come against Shane Warne leading Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2010. Batting first, Sachin scored 89 runs in 59 deliveries having 10 fours and 2 sixes in it. Mumbai Indians had put 174/5 on the board, and this time their bowling had finished the job for the team. However, Rajasthan had got early blows in the form of Michael Lumb and Naman Ojha, and later the whole team got restricted on a score of 137/8.
#3 74(44) MI vs CSK in 2012
In the second round of the league phase, Mumbai Indians crushed Chennai Super Kings by 2 wickets. Invited to bat first, Chennai had put up an outstanding total of 173/8, having a hefty contribution of Dwayne Smith 40(33) and Murli Vijay 41(29). As Mumbai Indians batted in the 2nd innings, the curb of CSK was strict. But, in the end, Sachin Tendulkar had taken Mumbai Indians beyond the line by just 2 wickets. He made fantastic 74 runs in 44 balls with a rapid scoring rate of 168.18.
#4 72(52) MI vs CSK in 2010
In a league match against Chennai Super Kings, the best of Sachin has again come out for Mumbai Indians. MI had opted to field first against the CSK, and with the fine knocks of Suresh Raina and S Badrinath, they had put the target 181 on the scoreboard. As Mumbai stepped in to bat, the score looked so little; the Master blaster had made 72(52), including 8 fours and 1 six in it. Lastly, MI won the game by 5 wickets and an over to spare.
#5 68(45) MI vs KKR in 2009
Cruising on to bat, Mumbai Indians had half-filled the scoreboard with a prominent figure of 187/6. Sachin had put on the input of 68 runs in 45 deliveries along with his counterpart Sanath Jayasuriya 52(32). But, as the men in purple walked in, no one could stand in the crease for a long time. Finally, KKR got all out on a score of 95; Lasith Malinga and Abhishek Nayar shared the haul of 3-wickets and delivered a victory for their team.
