The England test skipper Joe Root has already notched up two double centuries at the start of this year in the longer format, and he comes under the fab five in world cricket at the moment with some excellent numbers in the ODI and test format. However, his captaincy has been under scrutiny after losing the home series to New Zealand in June.
The Indian seamers have been bowling of the highest order in the practice game, and Joe Root will know that the challenge will not be any easy. But he is England’s best batsman in tests, and you definitely can’t keep him quiet at the crease. He is a busy player, and he will be one of the top contenders to end up as the highest run-scorer in the Test series.

Despite going through a lean patch with the bat, Virat Kohli is arguably among the favorites to end up as the highest run-scorer in the five-match test series. The Delhi lad was phenomenal in the previous tour of England in 2018 and scored tons of runs against one of the best bowling attacks.
Kohli hasn’t scored a century in international cricket for almost two years now, which is astonishing considering his usual standards, and he always sets the benchmark high. However, he is too good a player to be not converting his half-centuries to hundreds, and it is only a matter of time till he gets into his groove. The Indian skipper still holds the key for the visitors, and he can be a game-changer with the bat.
