3 Captaincy Choices For CSK After MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, 40, has come onto the verge of deciding his prospects in the CSK. In the latest statement to the press, MS Dhoni has hinted at retirement in the year 2023 from all sorts of formats. So now, it’s a need for time for the management of Chennai Super Kings to kick off a hunt for the next skipper for their franchise. MSD, in his long 14-year career with CSK, has given a lot of fruitful accomplishments encompassing the big four title wins (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021). His legacy is unforgettable for many cricket fans, and the way he led the franchise and its hindsight always reflects a miraculous & incredible journey.

If we talk about the three highly compensated names, who can replace MS Dhoni after his relinquishment from the franchise cricket, that completely alters the equation. While the highly-brainy & tactical skipper like MS Dhoni is seldom to find out frequently, here are a few options that staggered their presence for the slot of captaincy in the team:

1) Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is the only guy who looks in a position to replace MS Dhoni. The management of CSK may also aim to designate him as the next skipper after him. Though he is standing in the first position of becoming the next CSK skipper, the major problem with him is his zero experience in the role of captaincy. He doesn’t even lead a domestic cricket team in his life, he has very good numbers for Chennai super kings as an all-rounder, but his naivety may play a big role in the whole process.

2) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj has a hefty chance of getting appointed as a new leader of CSK after the retirement of MS Dhoni, Because the trend of appointing young men as a leader is currently on the top among the circuit of franchises, like Delhi Capital, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have done the same thing. His classy batting performance and pretty good consistency back him primely for the role of skipper. At the same time, many of the cricketing minds think of it as a haste step which doesn’t make good sense in getting him to the position in the current situation, but it can definitely pay off in the future.

3) Moeen Ali

While keeping the fact in mind that not many teams want to go with overseas captains, Moeen Ali couldn’t pitch his stand firmly. But, the people who have seen his captaincy for England in the recent T20I series against Windies may get the angle that I am trying to entertain here. Though England lost that series but the sharp cricketing mind of Moeen Ali has come forth before the whole cricketing world. His top-order batting & clever bowling numbers in the last two seasons for CSK has all to say about his performance in IPL for his team.
