All 300-run Partnerships in ODI

Key Insights

Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were the first pair ever to put together a triple-century partnership in an ODI innings. The Indian duo stitched together 318 runs for the second wicket against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup match at Taunton. Ganguly scored his ODI high score of 183 in this match.

The 318-run partnership between Ganguly and Dravid is the highest for India in the ODI World Cup.

In November 1999, Sachin Tendulkar and Dravid joined hands to create a new partnership record of 331 runs against New Zealand in Hyderabad. Dravid’s highest ODI score of 153 came during that partnership. Sachin also brought up his then-high score of 188, which was also the highest Indian individual ODI score then.

Fifteen years later, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels surpassed the above two records to put up the highest-ever partnership in ODIs. The Caribbean pair forged a 372-run stand against Zimbabwe at Canberra in 2015. This is also the highest partnership in ODI World Cup history and the highest for the second wicket in the format.

Gayle contributed 215 runs in this stand, making him the first batter to score a double century in the ODI World Cup. His 215 is the second-highest individual score in the 50-over event.

Zimbabwe are the only team to concede two 300-plus run partnerships in ODI cricket. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are the other pair to score a 300-plus run stand against Zimbabwe, stitching 304 runs together in Bulawayo in 2018. This was the first 300-plus run partnership for the first wicket in ODIs.

The 365-run partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope is the highest by an opening pair in ODI cricket. Their partnership came at a run rate of 7.71, which is the highest for a 300-plus run stand.
