Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is the fastest opener to score 1000 runs in T20I cricket, taking just 20 innings to reach the landmark.
Rizwan is also the quickest in terms of time, completing the 1000 runs in 316 days since he started opening for Pakistan in December 2020.
India’s Rohit Sharma has taken the most time to score 1000 T20I runs as an opener, requiring eight years and 148 days.
Rwanda’s Eric Dusingizimana is the slowest opener to aggregate 1000 T20I runs by innings, as he needed 54 outings to attain the feat.
New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum was the first opener to amass 1000 runs in T20Is, having crossed the milestone back in May 2010.

The Czech Republic’s Sabawoon Davizi is overall the joint-quickest batter to score 1000 runs at any position in T20Is. He took 24 innings, one innings more than he needed as an opener.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam has taken the fewest innings to accumulate 1000 runs as a captain while also opening in T20Is. He needed 25 innings while opening and leading Pakistan at the same time.
Rizwan has also taken the fewest number of innings to reach 1000 T20I runs as a wicketkeeper-opener. He needed 21 innings, one extra than he took as just an opener.
