Chris Gayle scored the first international T20 century in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Since then, there have been more than 200 centuries in the shortest format.

Most T20I Centuries by Associate Nations

The Czech Republic holds the record for the highest number of T20I centuries scored by an Associate cricketing nation, with five to their name.

This number has recently been equalled by Nepal, Canada, Hong Kong, and Namibia, highlighting the significant and growing strength and batting firepower within the Associate ranks. Several nations sit close behind with four centuries each, including Austria, Malta, Scotland, and Serbia.


Most T20I Centuries for India

India is one of only four Test-playing nations to have seen more than two players register at least two T20I centuries.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma tops the charts as the format’s highest century scorer globally, with an unprecedented five centuries to his name. This record underscores his stature as one of the most destructive and consistent openers in T20Is. Rohit Sharma retired from the T20I format in 2024.

Separately, Virat Kohli, who also retired from the T20I format in 2024, scored his only T20I century against Afghanistan during the 2022 Asia Cup. Despite his immense overall T20I record, he finished his career in the format with this singular three-figure score.

Babar Azam tops the charts for the most 30+ and 50+ scores in T20Is, showcasing exceptional consistency and run-scoring prowess.

Suryakumar Yadav had a brilliant 2022 in the shortest format, coming close to breaking Mohammad Rizwan’s record for the most runs in a calendar year. His aggressive style led to one of the most dominant T20I years by a batsman.

Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan holds the record for the fastest century in T20I cricket, reaching the milestone in just 27 balls against Cyprus. This is also the fastest century across all men’s professional T20 cricket.

The youngest player to score a T20I century is Gustav McKeon of France, who achieved the feat at the age of 18 years and 280 days against Switzerland in 2022.

The oldest player to score a T20I century is Avinash Pai of Gibraltar, who achieved the feat at the age of 39 years and 272 days against Bulgaria in 2021.

The highest individual score in T20 Internationals belongs to Aaron Finch of Australia, who scored 173 against Zimbabwe in a 2018 triangular series.
