Remarkable Start to Career in 2021
Suryakumar made his much-anticipated T20I debut in March 2021, although he didn’t get a chance to bat.
But in his next outing, he scored a valuable 57-run knock against England in Ahmedabad, the first of his many fifties. The knock came at a strike rate of 183.87, displaying his attacking skills.

His 1164 runs in 2022 are the most by an Indian batter in a calendar year in T20Is. He, in fact, became the first Indian batter to aggregate 1000-plus in a year.
He also scored his maiden T20I hundred against England in the 2022 Nottingham match, collecting 117 off 55 balls at a strike rate of 212.72. This is now the second-highest individual score by an Indian batter against England in T20Is.
Surya’s 117 is the second-highest individual score by an Indian batter in a losing cause in T20Is.
He scored another hundred towards the fag end of 2022, smashing an unbeaten 111 off 51 balls against New Zealand in the Bay Oval T20I. This made him the first Indian centurion against the Kiwis in T20Is.
