ODI Asia Cup Records

Ajantha Mendis has the best bowling average in the ODI Asia Cup (minimum 10 wickets taken). He averaged 10.42 while taking 26 wickets in eight innings.

Shahid Afridi, though, has the worst bowling average in the ODI tournament. He picked up 14 wickets in 22 innings at an average of 63.07.

Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah is the other bowler to average above 50, having taken 10 scalps in 17 outings at 51.60.

Over 12 bowlers average below 20 in the ODI Asia Cup. Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal (19.40) and Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Zoysa (19.78) are the others with sub-20 averages.


Notable Bowling Stats

Mendis also has the lowest strike rate in the ODI continental tournament (minimum 300 balls bowled). He struck a wicket after every 15.6 deliveries. Mendis is the only bowler with a strike rate below 20.

On the economy front, Wasim Akram leads the pack (minimum 360 balls bowled). The former Pakistani pacer picked up 16 wickets in 12 innings at an economy of 3.22.


T20I Asia Cup Records

Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir has the lowest economy rate, giving away 5.06 runs per over while taking seven wickets in four innings.

Amjad Javed’s average of 14.08 is the best for a skipper in the T20 Asia Cup. He grabbed 12 wickets in seven outings while captaining the UAE.

Al-Amin Hossain, who averages 12.18, has the best bowling strike rate in the T20I tournament. He snapped up a wicket after every 9.1 balls, having taken 11 scalps in 101 deliveries across five innings.
