Key Insights – India Test Results in Every Pakistan Venues

India has won only two Tests in Pakistan, the fewest number of wins by India in any Test nation.

India won both of these Tests in the same series in 2004, marking their first Test series win in Pakistan with a 2-1 victory over the hosts.

India’s first Test match victory in Pakistan came in Multan, where they handed Pakistan an innings and 52-run defeat. India declared their first innings on 675 for 5 before bowling out Pakistan for 407 and 216.

India’s 675 for 5 is their highest team score on Pakistani soil and their third-highest in an away Test match.

309 of India’s total runs came from Virender Sehwag, who became the first Indian batter to reach 300 in a Test innings. Sehwag crossed the mark off 364 balls, the fifth-fastest Test triple hundred.

Before their first victory, India was winless for 20 consecutive matches in Pakistan. This is their second-longest winless streak before their first win in a Test-playing country.

While India won two Tests, both came under different captains: Rahul Dravid was in charge of the Multan victory, while Sourav Ganguly captained the team in Rawalpindi. Explore India’s overseas Test record in this century here.

India also won the Rawalpindi Test by an innings margin, specifically by an innings and 131 runs, which is their biggest Test victory on Pakistani soil.

The Indian team faced their biggest innings loss at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, where they lost the 1983 Test by an innings and 119 runs.
