Virat Kohli is the only Indian captain to win multiple Test matches in Sri Lanka. India won five Tests under his captaincy in the Lankan territory.
Mohammad Azharuddin was the first Indian skipper to win a Test match in Sri Lanka. He led India to a 235-run victory in the 1993 Colombo (SSC) Test.
Azharuddin was also the first captain from India to manage a series victory on Lankan soil. Apart from the Colombo (SSC) win, the other two matches ended in draws, which resulted in a 1-0 series triumph.
