IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals are making a push for the top of the table

Delhi capitals beat Mumbai Indians by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. The Delhi-based franchise, which lost to the Mumbai Indians in last year’s title clash, emerged victorious after a convincing performance. The online betting India sites must have been in pandemonium watching the Delhi Capitals bowlers, led by leg spinner Amit Mishra, bowled superbly to limit the defending champions to 137 for nine in 20 overs. The Mumbai Indians, who had won their previous two matches at the same venue defending low totals, fell this time around as the Delhi capitals, on Shikhar Dhawan’s 45-point stroke, chased the total with five balls to lose.

Table of IPL points 2021

After securing their third victory of the season, the Delhi Capitals moved up to second in the 2021 IPL points table, with six points from four matches.

Above them are the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have won their three games so far. The Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, with four points each, occupy the last two places in the playoffs.

Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings each won one match and occupy the next three positions, respectively. 2016 champions SunRisers Hyderabad – the only team without a win – are at the bottom of the points table.

Race For Orange Cap

After playing another crucial shot, Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan consolidated his position at the top of the batting chart.

He became the first batsman to cross the 200 point mark this season, with 231 points in four games. All-around RCB Glenn Maxwell, who has scored two 50s so far this season, is second on the list with 176 points.

Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul and KKR opener Nitish Rana are next on the list, with just two points separating them. Rohit Sharma, who scored 44 points on Tuesday, pushed AB de Villiers aside to enter the top five.

Race for Purple Cap

RCB medium pacer Harshal Patel continues to be the proud owner of the Purple Cap, having purchased nine wickets so far.

After another impressive performance, Delhi Capitals fast bowler Avesh Khan moved up to second, pushing Rahul Chahar to third. The two players took eight wickets each.

Trent Boult and Chetan Sakariya, with six wickets each, completed the top five.

Upcoming fixtures

The Delhi Capitals will now look forward to their matchup against the Sunrisers on Sunday as they look to take another step to the top. The Sunrisers are not having the best of seasons and will not be thrilled facing a Capitals team with one of the hottest batters in the league. The Capitals also play leaders the Royal Challengers on Tuesday the 27th in what should be a fun game if the Capitals can keep up their current momentum. For that to happen, the Chennai Super Kings will have to slow down the Royal Challengers on Sunday, and the Capitals will have to keep up their current streak. On Monday, the Punjab Kings will take on the Kolkata Riders, two teams also having outside shots at making the season a more than exciting one if they can string together some good wins.
