Key Insights

Jake Fraser-McGurk has the highest strike rate in powerplay overs in the IPL among the batters who have played at least 100 balls. He has struck at 206.94 and is the only one with a 200-plus strike rate in the first six overs.

In all, 13 batters have strike rates of 150 or more in the first six overs in IPL history.

Fraser-McGurk also has the highest strike rate in the first six overs in an IPL season. He smashed 266 runs off 106 deliveries at 250.94 in nine innings for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2024 edition.

When it comes to a single innings, Abhishek Sharma tops the list. The left-hander’s strike rate reached 400 as he smacked 40 off 10 in the powerplay against DC in a 2024 game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s strike rate of 433.33 is the highest in the first over in an IPL innings (minimum six balls). He scored 26 runs in the first over against Kolkata Knight Riders in a 2023 match.

Chris Gayle, with a strike rate of 134.17, has hit the most sixes in this phase. The Caribbean hitter sent down 138 maximums in 135 innings. Rohit Sharma and David Warner are the other two batters with 100-plus sixes in the powerplay.
