Rohit Sharma has smashed the most 150-plus scores in ODI cricket. The Indian batter has brought up eight 150-plus scores.
Three of Sharma’s scores were double centuries, the most by a batter in ODIs. His 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 is the highest score by a batter in the format.
Sharma has another double hundred against Sri Lanka (208* in 2017), the most by a batter against an ODI team. His other double century (209) came against Australia in 2013.
Sharma has also scored the most 150-plus knocks against a single team. Three of his eight 150-plus knocks came against the West Indies, two (152* and 162) of which came in the 2018 series, the joint-most by a batter in a single ODI series.
Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza is the other batter to smash two 150-plus scores (156 and 178*) in an ODI series. He was, in fact, the first batter to do so against Kenya in a five-match series in 2009.
Seven of Sharma’s scores came at home, the most by a batter. No other batter has smashed five 150-plus scores on home soil.
In away conditions, Chris Gayle and Sanath Jayasuriya hold the top spot. Both batters brought up four 150-plus scores each.
Andrew Strauss, Virat Kohli, Aaron Finch, and Babar Azam scored two 150-plus knocks each, the joint-most as captains in ODIs.
Quinton de Kock, meanwhile, leads among the wicketkeepers. The South African smashed three 150-plus scores as a designated keeper-batter.
Six 150-plus scores each by Sharma and David Warner came in ODI victories, the joint-most in the format.
Sharma’s other two 150-plus knocks, though, came in defeats, the joint-most in ODIs, along with Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan.
Three of Warner’s seven 150-plus scores came in the ODI World Cup, the most by a batter. Overall, 25 batters have at least one 150-plus knock in the 50-over event.
AB de Villiers has racked up the fastest 150-plus score in ODIs. He crossed the mark in 64 balls against the West Indies in the 2015 World Cup. The quickest ODI hundred also remains with de Villiers, smashed off 31 deliveries (149) against the same opposition in 2015.
