Kalidas has also stood in the most matches as an on-field umpire in T20I cricket.
Kalidas also became the first on-field umpire to officiate in 60 matches in his home country in T20Is.
The West Indies’ Gregory Brathwaite became the first to officiate in 30 matches as a TV umpire in T20Is.
Kenya’s Isaac Oyieko has the longest career as an on-field umpire in T20Is, with his career stretching close to 18 years.
Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza and Zimbabwe’s Langton Rusere have umpired in the most matches among the officials from full-member nations in T20Is.
Langton Rusere has officiated in the most T20Is as an on-field umpire in a calendar year, having stood in 26 matches in 2022.
Rusere has also stood in the most matches as an on-field and TV umpire combined in a year in T20Is, with 32 appearances in 2022.
Australia’s Rod Tucker and Pakistan’s Aleem Dar have stood in as on-field umpires in more than 40 T20 World Cup matches.
Aleem Dar, who officiated in T20Is between 2009 and 2024, maintained his role for a prolonged period, showcasing his sustained excellence in umpiring over the years.
Aleem Dar also holds the record for officiating the most number of matches in Test cricket (145) and ODI cricket (231).
Viswanadan Kalidas is the only umpire (on-field + TV) to officiate in more than 20 matches in three years – 21 in 2019, 29 in 2024 and 27 in 2025.
New Zealand’s Billy Bowden and Tony Hill stood in as the on-field umpires, while Doug Cowie officiated as the TV umpire in the first-ever T20I match played between New Zealand and Australia in Auckland in 2005.
Former New Zealand batter Jeff Crowe is the only match referee to officiate in more than 200 matches in T20Is.
