In the modern-day T20s, the No. 4 batting slot is one of the most crucial positions as it demands a blend of calm demeanour and, at the same time, hard-hitting instincts. Usually, a No. 4 batter walks to the crease when the team has had a flying start or when the wickets have fallen early.

Suryakumar scored 774 of his overall runs in 2022, the most by a No. 4 batter in a calendar year in T20Is. In all, he aggregated 1164 runs across different positions that year in the format. 

T20I Centuries and Fifties at No. 4 Records

Maxwell, Suryakumar, and Glenn Phillips have smashed two or more centuries while batting at No. 4 in T20Is.

Suryakumar is the lone No. 4 batter to aggregate more than 15 fifty-plus scores in T20Is.

Elite T20I Strike Rates and Successful Chase Metrics at No. 4

Suryakumar, Maxwell, and Rovman Powell are the three batters with a 150-plus strike rate at No. 4 in T20Is (minimum 500 runs scored). 

Maxwell and Surya are also the only No. 4 batters to score more than 1000 runs in T20I wins for their respective teams. 

Maxwell is the lone No. 4 batter to accumulate 750-plus runs in successful chases in T20Is.

922 of Eoin Morgan’s 1315 runs came while leading England, the most by a captain at No. 4 in T20Is. 

Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia), Zeeshan Maqsood (Oman), Suryakumar, and Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe) are the captains to score a century at No. 4 in T20Is. 

Mushfiqur Rahim scored the most runs as a wicketkeeper at No. 4 in T20Is, accumulating 831 of his 988 runs as a keeper-batter for Bangladesh. 

Highest and Fastest T20I Scores at No. 4

Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan has brought up the highest individual score at No. 4 in T20Is, aggregating an unbeaten 144 against Cyprus in 2024. 

Chauhan took just 27 deliveries to cross the 100-run mark, making it the fastest T20I century by any batter.
