2023 Records

2023 Stats: Most Runs across All Formats (ODI+Test+T20I)

Most international cricket bilateral tours now include ODI, Test, & T20I games. With World Cups and Championships planned to be held regularly, every cricketing team is determined to plan their format-wise strategies and structure their playing XI and bench strength accordingly.

With cricket becoming a three-format game year by year, one big challenge that every batsman faces is to adapt to the diversity of the cricketing formats. Only very few players are able to crack the code of finding the right balance and executing brilliantly in all three formats.

This article will list the leading run-scorers of 2023 across all formats of cricket. You can also find the top ten list of the same stat in 2022 and 2021 here to compare and analyse which players have been more consistent over the last three years.

Key Stats

2023 being the year of the ODI World Cup, you will see more ODIs happening worldwide as the teams prepare for the biggest tournament of the sport. And that doesn’t mean we will see fewer T20s as the World Cup of the shortest format is happening next year in West Indies. Also, we have the big World Test Championship final in June. Not to forget the Border Gavaskar Trophy and The Ashes Series happening at either end of the WTC Final. So, this is a huge year for cricket fans with more cricketing action in all three game formats.

Shubman Gill has started the year brilliantly, with more than 700 runs coming in January alone. He scored 4 centuries in the opening month, including an ODI double century and his maiden T20I century, becoming one of the few batsmen to have centuries in all three formats.

Considering the tight schedule of the Indian cricket team, the Indian opener has more chances to reach the calendar year batting records now held by Sachin Tendulkar.

Usman Khawaja of Australia started the year with a brilliant 195* in the home Test (New Year Test) against South Africa. With Australia featuring in the WTC final almost finalized, he has more games in BGT and Ashes this year to feature.

Suryakumar Yadav, the leading run scorer in the shortest format last year, has started well in 2023, too, with a century and half-century in January.
