IPL Stats: Teams with Most Sixes in Indian Premier League History

Boundaries in IPL are bread and butter to win games. Teams have their own strategies to win games; some wait for the death overs to explode, and some just start thrashing the ball from the word go.

Teams now believe that the difference between two teams can be measured by the number of sixes both teams hit in a game. After all, the past controversial rule of deciding the game with the number of boundaries teams have scored, in case of a tied super-over, might look meaningful from this perspective.

Key Insights

Mumbai Indians (MI) top the list for now, thanks to the presence of players, who rule the top individual six-hitters, in their team across seasons.

MI also top the chart for the most boundaries in IPL for now, thanks to their dominance in the rankings for the most numbers of fours by a team.

The Mumbai-based team also has capped the most number of games in the league.

With the latest inclusion of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), there are now eight IPL franchises with more than 1000 sixes hit overall.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) top the sixes/innings column, whereas, among the older franchises, MI and RCB top the average number of sixes hit per innings.
