Over the years, the T20I format has seen some of the best all-rounders grace the field. However, a few players like Shakib Al Hasan, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Nabi, and Hardik Pandya have etched their names in history with the remarkable achievement of scoring 1000 runs and picking up 50 wickets.

Key Insights

Pakistan’s prolific all-rounder Shahid Afridi became the first player to achieve the double of 1000 runs and 50 wickets in the T20I format. Afridi also features in the list of players with over 5000 runs and 500 wickets across all formats.

The UAE’s Rohan Mustafa became the first associate player to score 1000 runs and take 50 wickets in T20Is, achieving the feat in 2023.

Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza are the two captains to aggregate 1000 runs and grab 50 wickets in T20Is.

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi are the two players to score 2000-plus runs and pick up 100-plus wickets in the shortest format. This makes them some of the greatest all-rounders in the game’s history.

Shakib is the only all-rounder to attain the double of 2500 runs and 100 wickets in T20I cricket. 

11 players have crossed 1500 runs and 50 wickets in the shortest format. The players are:

Shakib and Dinesh Nakrani (Uganda) are the two players on this list to have two or more five-wicket hauls in the 20-over format.

Among the above-listed players, seven have scored a century each. The centurions are:

  • Kevin O’Brien (Ireland: 124 vs Hong Kong, 2019)
  • Bilal Zalmai (Austria: 111* vs Czech Republic, 2019)
  • Dipendra Singh Airee (Nepal: 110* vs Malaysia, 2022)
  • Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia: 100* vs Uganda, 2022)
  • Zeeshan Maqsood (Oman: 102* vs Bahrain, 2022)
  • Virandeep Singh (Malaysia: 116* vs Indonesia, 2023) 
  • Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe: 133* vs Gambia, 2024)

O’Brien was the first among this lot, scoring 124 runs against Hong Kong in 2019. This made him the first Irish batter to notch up a T20I century and the first Irish batter to score a hundred in all formats.
