Shikhar Dhawan has been one of the captaincy choices for Team India in the absence of various first-choice captaincy candidates.

Even though Dhawan has had very less time to contribute to the Men in Blue as a captain, he has always been a team player who contributed richly with the bat over the years and his safe hands on the field.
This article will discuss Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy stats in ODIs and T20s. He has not captained team India in the longest format.
| FORMAT | MATCHES AS CAPTAIN | WON | LOST | TIED | NR | WIN% |

Dhawan was named India’s captain for the first time in the ODI and T20I matches against Sri Lanka in June 2021.
The Delhi-born opener Shikhar Dhawan is the 25th ODI captain for India.
He is also the 7th player to lead the Indian team in T20 internationals.
Dhawan recorded his 36th half-century against West Indies in 2022 while playing as captain. This made him the oldest Indian captain to score a half-century in ODIs, overcoming MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin. Dhawan was 36 years and 229 days while achieving this feat.
