Scoring above 200 in a T20 game is indeed an astounding effort from a team’s perspective. What if a single partnership gives a team more than 200 runs in a T20 game?

In IPL, the game of champions, the opposition will compete against you from all strengths, even though T20s are batter-friendly. Two batting partners to make it big for their team; scoring 200+ is a big feat. A very rare one, too.

But not for a deadly pair of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The RCB pair made two 200+ partnerships in IPL in two consecutive editions, 2015 and 2016 – the top two partnerships in the history of IPL.

This article is an elite list of the greatest partnerships in IPL, where two batters combined to make more than 200 runs!

Key Insights

Three out of six partnerships in this list comprise the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side, and the name Virat Kohli is etched in all three super alliances. Virat has also been part of three 150+ partnerships, two of which have come with ABD and one with Devdutt Padikkal.

All six of these record partnerships have come in Indian venues.

Four of these superlative partnerships have come for the second-wicket partnership. The highest opening wicket partnership in the tournament is an unbeaten 210 by the LSG pair KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. Two years later, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan levelled the record with their 210-run first-wicket stand. Check the top 10 here.
