Key Insights – IPL Highest Run Chase vs Fastest

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made the fastest 200-plus run chase in the IPL. They overhauled a 202-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 15.4 overs in Bengaluru in 2026.

RCB have also recorded the quickest 200-plus chase in an away game in the IPL. They took 16 overs to chase a 201-run target against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad in 2024.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the first team to chase a 200-plus target in the league. They made a successful chase of 215 runs with a ball to spare against Deccan Chargers in 2008.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have recorded the highest successful run chase in the IPL, having gunned down a 262-run target in 18.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2024. This is the only 250-plus run chase in the league.

PBKS’ run chase of 262 runs is also the highest by a team in a men’s T20 match. The Punjab-based side achieved a run rate of 14.03, the highest by a team in an IPL innings.

PBKS and Mumbai Indians (MI) have successfully chased down 200 or more runs in five or more IPL matches.

RCB and MI have made multiple 200-plus run chases in 18 or fewer overs in the IPL. They also top the list of teams that have successfully chased down the most number of 200+ totals in the tournament.

PBKS have registered the fastest 200-plus run chase in an IPL playoff match, taking down a 204-run target against MI in the 2025 Qualifier 2.

KKR, meanwhile, have recorded the quickest 200-plus run chase in the IPL final. They took 19.3 overs to overhaul a 200-run target against PBKS in the 2014 final.

RR chased down 210 runs against GT in 2025 on the back of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 38-ball 101-run knock. This made him the youngest IPL centurion at the age of 14 years and 32 days.

Suryavanshi also took 35 balls to complete his maiden IPL hundred, making it the second-fastest by any batter in the league.

GT are the only team to chase down a 200-plus run target without losing a wicket in the IPL. They overhauled a 200-run target (205/0) against Delhi Capitals in 2025.

Sai Sudharsan (108*) and Shubman Gill (93*) partnered for the unbeaten 205 runs, the highest opening partnership in the IPL.
