In the modern game, chasing targets has been the preferred choice for teams in limited-overs formats, and this is more true in the T20s.
This is because both the batters and teams are more confident in knowing the target and then going ahead to chase it down. While there is still scoreboard pressure during the chase, the confidence of these modern batters to attack at a point in time negates any pressure.
The IPL is seen as a cornerstone for this phenomenon, and today, we see the teams that have chased 200+ targets the most number of times successfully. This is because 200 is a total that is seen as a benchmark for a huge score in T20 format.
