Key Insights on IPL Bowling Averages

Lungi Ngidi, Doug Bollinger and Lasith Malinga are the three bowlers to average below 20 in the IPL.

Sai Kishore is the only Indian bowler to average below 21 in the IPL.

Imran Tahir has the lowest bowling average in home matches played in the IPL. He claimed 47 wickets at 16.34 in 30 outings.

Malinga is the only other bowler to have a bowling average under 20 in home IPL games.

Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada, meanwhile, are the only two bowlers to maintain a bowling average below 20 in away IPL matches.

Malinga, known for his death overs bowling, has the best bowling average at a single venue in the IPL, having picked up 68 wickets at 17.33 in 43 innings at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Amit Mishra boasts the best bowling average against an IPL team, having averaged 16.7 while taking 31 wickets in 21 innings against Rajasthan Royals.

Nathan Coulter-Nile has the lowest bowling average while bowling in the first innings in the IPL. He collected 34 scalps at 15.91 in 20 innings.

Rabada and Malinga are the two bowlers to average below 20 while bowling in the second innings in the league.

Anil Kumble tops the bowling average chart among captains in the IPL, getting 30 wickets at 20.9 while leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 26 matches.

Josh Hazlewood and Andre Russell are the two bowlers to maintain an average below 25 in the powerplay overs (1 to 6) in the IPL (minimum 20 wickets).

Yuzvendra Chahal is the only bowler to average under 24 in the middle overs (7 to 16) in the league (minimum 20 wickets).

Bollinger has the lowest bowling average in the death overs (17 to 20) in the IPL, having taken 21 wickets at 12.52 in 24 innings (minimum 20 wickets).
