266 innings taken by Sachin Tendulkar are the fewest by a batter to score 13,000 Test runs. He was also the first to reach the mark in the longest format.

Tendulkar, though, took the longest time to achieve the feat. He climbed mount 13,000 in 20 years and 63 days after his debut in November 1989.

Joe Root took almost eight years less than Tendulkar to become the quickest to the milestone by time taken. He needed 12 years and 160 days to tick off the mark. Root now leads the run chart for England in Tests.

The England batter also left Tendulkar behind in terms of age. Root is the youngest to aggregate 13,000 Test runs. He was 34 years and 152 days old, more than two years younger than Tendulkar (36 years and 269 days).

Rahul Dravid, though, is the oldest batter to achieve the landmark. The former Indian batter was 38 years and 316 days old when he surpassed 13,000 Test runs in November 2011.

Among the five batters, Jacques Kallis had the highest average after reaching 13,000 Test runs. The former South African averaged 56.94 after 269 innings.

Kallis is the only all-rounder to aggregate 13,000-plus runs and pick up 200-plus wickets in Test cricket.
