Fastest by Innings and Time Taken to Five ODI Tons

Quinton de Kock and Imam-ul-Haq are the joint-fastest batters to score five ODI centuries, each taking 19 innings.

De Kock is also the quickest to smash five ODI hundreds as a wicketkeeper, needing 18 innings, one less than as a regular batter.

Upul Tharanga is the fastest batter to score five ODI centuries by time, taking one year and 67 days from his debut in August 2005.

Imam (1y 100d), de Kock (1y 175d), Aaron Finch (1y 313d), Babar (1y 314d), and Rachin Ravindra (1y 346d) are the other batters to smash their first five ODI hundreds within two years of their debuts.

Babar Azam has taken the fewest innings to bring up five hundreds as a captain in ODIs. He needed just 12 innings to score his fifth century as Pakistan’s skipper.


Record Extremes: Slowest to 5 ODI Centuries

Stephen Fleming batted the most innings, smashing his fifth ODI hundred in his 147th innings as New Zealand’s captain.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim has taken the most innings as a keeper-batter, taking an astounding 184 ODI innings to score five tons.

Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams has taken the most time, taking 16 years and 326 days to score his fifth ODI hundred.

Scotland’s Richard Berrington (16y 319d) is the other batter to grind for more than 16 years to bring up his fifth ton in ODIs.

The Netherlands’ Ryan ten Doeschate brought up his fifth hundred in his 32nd and last ODI innings, pushing his average to 67, the highest among all batters in this format (minimum 30 innings batted).


Highest Scores and Unique Performance Records

Hashim Amla had a tally of 1591 runs, along with five hundreds, the highest by a batter after playing 30 ODI innings.

Rohit Sharma brought up his fifth century with a 264-run knock against Sri Lanka in 2014. This is the highest score by a batter for his fifth ODI hundred. This is also the highest individual score in 50-over cricket.

Rohit is the only batter to convert two of his first five centuries into double hundreds in ODIs. His first double hundred – 209 vs Australia, 2013 – was his fourth ODI century, which is the second-highest score for the fourth ODI hundred.

Rachin Ravindra is the lone batter to score his first five centuries in ODI ICC tournaments – World Cup or Champions Trophy – taking 28 innings. The Kiwi batter’s first three tons came in the 2023 World Cup, while the next two came in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
