You can assume how good the performance by Aubrey Faulkner must have been considering we’re going 110 years back to revisit it. During the first test England’s tour of South Africa in 1910, South Africa win the toss and elected to bat first. Faulkner played a crisp knock of 78, and South Africa finished with 208 on the board. England looked dominant against South African bowlers, but Faulkner managed to pick 5 wickets in the 310-run England innings.

South African team was trailing by 102 runs, and Faulkner had the responsibility on his shoulders to give a significant lead to his side. Faulkner, as hoped by the home crowd, played a magnificent knock scoring 123 runs. South Africa, mainly supported by Faulkner, managed to score 345 and take a lead of 243.

Chasing 244, England fell 19 runs short and handed the victory to South Africa. Faulkner starred again with 3 wickets giving away only 40 runs in 17.2 overs.
