India’s Record Highest T20I Scores

Abhishek Sharma has hammered the highest individual score for India in T20Is, scoring 135 runs against England at Wankhede in 2025. This is also the highest score in a T20I win for India.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 123 not out against Australia in 2023 is the highest score by an Indian in a losing cause in T20Is. This is overall the second-highest knock in a T20I loss. His knock propelled India to 222 for 3, though Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten 104 saw Australia cruise past.

Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in Dubai is the highest individual score by an Indian batter in an away-from-home T20I match. This is the joint-highest score by a batter in the T20 Asia Cup.


India’s Landmark T20I Century Milestones

Indian batters have scored more than 20 centuries, the most by a team in T20I cricket.

Rohit Sharma has hit the maximum tons (5) for India in the shortest format. He is also the lead century-maker in T20Is.

Suresh Raina was the first Indian batter to cross the 100-run mark in a T20I innings, scoring 101 against South Africa in the 2010 T20 World Cup. This is the only instance of an Indian batter bringing up a triple-digit score in the T20 World Cup.


India’s Fastest and Consecutive T20I Century Feats

Sharma’s 118 against Sri Lanka in 2018 came at a strike rate of 274.41, the highest among Indian centurions in the format. He raced off to his hundred off 35 balls, the fastest by an Indian in T20Is.

Sanju Samson scored three tons in 2024, the most by a batter in a calendar year in T20Is.

Samson became the first Indian batter to smash centuries in consecutive T20I innings. He scored 111 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad and 107 versus South Africa in Durban in his consecutive outings in 2024.

Tilak Varma is the other Indian batter to score back-to-back T20I centuries, with both of his hundreds coming against South Africa – 107* at Centurion and 120 in Johannesburg.
