Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores in ODIs, with 145 knocks to his name.

Tendulkar’s 96 half-centuries are also the most by any batter in this format.

Tendulkar’s 49 centuries are only bettered by Virat Kohli, who is the only batter with more than 50 hundreds in ODIs.

Nepal’s Kushal Malla is the youngest batter to score a fifty in ODIs. He scored 50 off 51 against the USA at the age of 15 years and 340 days in February 2020.

Shahid Afridi smashed 13 fifty-plus scores before turning 20, the most by a batter in ODIs.

UAE’s Khurram Khan is the oldest batter to smash a fifty in ODIs. He collected an unbeaten 85 off 80 balls against Afghanistan at the age of 43 years and 164 days in December 2014.

Misbah-ul-Haq scored five fifty-plus scores after turning 40, the most by a batter in ODIs.

120 of Tendulkar’s 145 fifty-plus scores came while opening for India, making it the most by an opener in ODIs.

Ponting recorded 73 of his 112 fifty-plus scores while captaining Australia. This is the most fifty-plus scores as a skipper in ODIs. 

MS Dhoni is the only other captain with more than 50 such scores, having brought up 53 while leading India.

Sangakkara scored 114 of his 118 fifty-plus knocks as a designated wicketkeeper, the most in ODIs.

Tendulkar struck 16 fifty-plus scores in 1998, the most by a batter in a calendar year in ODIs. He converted nine of those scores into centuries, again the most by a batter in a year in this format.

Kohli and Tendulkar are the only two batters to score more than 50 fifty-plus scores at home in ODIs.

Kohli, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting are the three batters with more than 40 fifty-plus scores in away ODIs.

Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, both from Bangladesh, share the record for the most fifty-plus scores at a single ground in ODIs. Both smashed 24 fifty-plus scores each at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Tendulkar has scored the most fifty-plus knocks against an ODI team, having smashed 25 against Sri Lanka.

Tendulkar (vs SL, AUS & PAK) and Kohli (vs AUS, SL & WI) are the only two batters to score 20 or more fifty-plus knocks against three teams each in ODIs.

Dhoni, Kohli, Jacques Kallis, and Inzamam-ul-Haq have each scored 30 or more unbeaten fifty-plus knocks in ODIs.
