Sachin Tendulkar has the most fifty-plus scores in Test cricket. The Master Blaster converted his starts into 119 50-plus scores in the longest format. 

Tendulkar also converted 51 of his 119 fifty-plus scores into centuries, the most by a batter in Tests. His tally of 51 hundreds is almost unbreakable.

Australia’s greatest batter, Don Bradman, amassed 42 fifty-plus scores in 80 innings. He converted 12 of those 42 knocks into double centuries, the most by a batter in the longer format.

Virender Sehwag and Root share the record for the most fifty-plus scores in a calendar year in Tests, having smashed 13 knocks each. Sehwag achieved the feat in 2010, while Root levelled it in 2015 and repeated it in 2016.

Home and Overseas Fifty-Plus Records

Ricky Ponting brought up 61 of his 103 fifty-plus scores in Australia, the most by a batter at home in Tests.

Tendulkar smashed 65 of his fifty-plus knocks outside India. This is the most fifty-plus scores by a batter in overseas Tests.

Mahela Jayawardene has smashed the most fifty-plus scores at a single ground in Tests. He brought up 20 of his 84 scores at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.

Jayawardene (19 at Galle) and Kumar Sangakkara (15 each at Colombo and Galle) are the only two batters to score 15 or more fifty-plus knocks at two venues each in Tests.

Positional Records and Opponent-Specific Feats

86 of Alastair Cook’s 90 fifty-plus scores came while batting as an opener. This is the most fifty-plus scores by an opener in Test cricket.

Daniel Vettori, primarily a left-arm spinner, scored 23 knocks of 50 or more runs in red-ball cricket. This is the most fifty-plus scores by a tailender (No. 8 to 11) in Tests.

Bradman has scored the most fifty-plus knocks against a Test team, having brought up 31 against England.
