Gilchrist also smashed 17 hundreds, the most by a keeper. Andy Flower (12) is the other keeper-batter to score more than 10 Test centuries.

AB de Villiers has the highest Test batting average among the wicketkeepers with at least 1000 runs. He averaged 57.41 while scoring 2067 runs as a keeper for South Africa. Zimbabwe’s Flower (53.70) is the other gloveman to average above 50.

Flower, meanwhile, has brought up the highest Test score by a wicketkeeper. He amassed 232 runs (not out) versus India in 2000.

Boucher’s 532 catches are the most as a keeper, while Australia’s Bert Oldfield effected the most stumpings – 52 in total.
