Global Records for Most Not Outs in T20Is

MS Dhoni holds the record for remaining not out the most times in T20Is. He stayed unbeaten in 42 of the 85 innings he batted in this format. 

Virat Kohli has the highest average among all batters in T20I cricket (minimum 20 innings batted). His 31 not-outs pushed his average to 48.69, having scored 4188 runs in 117 innings


Position-Specific and Successful Chase Not Outs

Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan), Paul Stirling (Ireland), David Warner (Australia), Jos Buttler (England), and Simon Ssesazi (Uganda) are the five openers who have remained not out in 10 or more T20I innings.

Rizwan, meanwhile, has stayed unbeaten throughout the entire 20 overs nine times, the most by an opener in T20Is.

Chris Gayle (West Indies vs Sri Lanka, 2009), Arthur Kyobe (Uganda vs Scotland, 2010), Richmond Baaleri (Ghana vs Botswana, 2023), and Litton Das (Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, 2024) are the four openers who’ve carried their bat throughout a T20I innings. This means they were the last men standing while their teams got all out. 

23 of Kohli’s 31 not-outs came at No. 3, the most by a batter in that position in T20Is.

Kohli and Shoaib Malik (Pakistan) have remained unbeaten in 18 innings in successful chases, the joint-most times by a batter in T20Is.


Venue, Series, and Annual Not-Out Records

Ireland’s George Dockrell is the only batter to remain not out in all five matches of a five-match T20I bilateral series. He achieved the feat in the 2022 home series against Afghanistan, scoring 141 runs in five innings, including an unbeaten 58.

Dockrell is the lone batter to remain unbeaten in 10 or more innings against a team – Afghanistan – in T20Is.

Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah has the most not-outs at a single venue in T20Is, remaining unbeaten 14 times out of 36 innings at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Dhoni, Mahmudullah, and Mitchell Santner (New Zealand) have remained not out in 15 or more innings in their home conditions in T20Is.

Bahrain’s Sohail Ahmed has recorded the most not-outs in a calendar year in T20Is, staying unbeaten 13 times in 25 innings in 2025.
