2024 Records

2024 Stats: Most Runs in All Formats Combined

Cricket in 2024 will revolve around the T20 World Cup, scheduled for mid-year in the West Indies and the USA. The first half of the year will see teams preparing for the big event through multiple bilateral tournaments and several domestic leagues around the globe.

The second half will shift the focus onto the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for next year and will also see teams aggregate WTC points to have a hand in the World Test Championship final qualification, again planned for 2025.

In 2023, the top-order batters from India and Australia ruled batting along with Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka and Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh. All-rounders Daryl Mitchell (NZ) and Mitchell Marsh (AUS) also had a great year with the bat, putting up runs in multiple formats they were part of. UAE’s Muhammad Waseem had an inspiring year, topping the T20I’s runs chart last year.

This article will list the leading run-scorers in 2024 across all formats of cricket: ODI+Test+T20I.

Key Insights

Despite being the year of the T20 World Cup, it will still be a year special for the fans of the longer format. The year will start with India and Pakistan continuing their Test series in South Africa and Australia, respectively, followed by some sensational Test cricket series around the globe till the end of 2024.

India will host England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand at various times in 2024, whereas England will host the West Indies and Sri Lanka in the summer. The year will end with Australia hosting India in the Boxing Day Test match.

There is also a bit of love for the ODI fans as we will see England hosting Australia for a 5-match ODI series in September, preceded by three T20Is against the same teams.

Aiden Markram has scored the first century of this year in the New Year Test against India in Cape Town. It was a well-fought century, although it came in a loss against the visiting team. You can also find the highest-century list for the year 2024 here.
