Chris Gayle is the only batter to score two centuries in T20 World Cup matches – one batting first and the other while chasing. The Universe Boss hit 23 sixes and 38 fours in chases, which is 61 boundaries in 266 balls he faced. That’s more than 20% of all balls he faced.

Alex Hales holds the record for the highest score for any batsman while chasing in the T20 World Cup. He smashed an unbeaten 116 against Sri Lanka in 2014.

Hales also tops the list with a massive strike rate of 149.01 in chases among the batters with at least 300 runs in chases.

Virat Kohli’s average of 135.50 while chasing in the tournament is sky high, thanks to his eight unbeaten innings in 12 chases. Kohli also smashed the seven 50-plus scores in chases, the most by a batter in the T20 World Cup.

If there is one batsman with a better average than Virat Kohli, it is Matthew Hayden of Australia. Hayden was part of only four chases in T20 World Cup games, and he scored 260 runs with an average and strike rate of 260.00 and 147.72, respectively.
