Yashasvi Jaiswal of India matched this record 28 years later in 2024 in a home Test match against England. The innings included 12 sixes and 14 boundaries.

The previous record for an Indian batsman belonged to Navjot Singh Sidhu. The former Indian has hit 8 sixes in his 124 against Sri Lanka in the Lucknow 1994 Test.

Five of the above ten incidents came in New Zealand venues, and there are five NZ players in this list, with 4 coming in at home.

Brendon McCullum is the only player to feature twice in this chart. The former New Zealand captain also tops the most number of sixes chart in Test cricket.

Rohit Sharma’s 13 Sixes in the 2019 Visakhapatnam Test match against South Africa is the record for the ‘Most Sixes in a Test match (both innings together) by a batter.’

New Zealand batsman Colin Munro’s 23 Sixes is the most in a first-class innings. It was for team Auckland against Central Districts in the Plunket Shield – New Zealand’s first-class competition match.
