ODI Asia Cup Records

Ajantha Mendis has taken the most wickets in an ODI Asia Cup edition. The former Sri Lankan mystery spinner fetched 17 wickets in five innings in 2008.

Mendis took those scalps at an average of 8.52, an economy of 3.45, and a strike rate of 14.8, making them the best bowling metrics by a bowler in an ODI Asia Cup edition (minimum 10 wickets).

Mendis’ wicket tally included three four-wicket hauls in 2008, the most by a bowler in an edition of the 50-over competition. Bonus Stat: Mendis is also the fastest 50-wickets taker in ODI cricket.

Mendis (2008) and Lasith Malinga (2014) are the only two bowlers to grab two five-wicket hauls in the same edition of the ODI Asia Cup.

Four bowlers took 10 or more wickets in 2023, the most instances in a single ODI Asia Cup edition.

Sachin Tendulkar is the only player to score 100+ runs and take 10+ wickets in an ODI Asia Cup iteration. He accumulated 281 runs and picked up 12 wickets in 2004.


T20I Asia Cup Records

Amjad Javed has grabbed the most wickets in a T20 Asia Cup edition. The former UAE bowler snapped up 12 wickets in seven innings in 2016.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2022) is the only bowler to pick up two four-wicket hauls in a single iteration of the T20 Asia Cup. Check the overall T20I list here.

Javed’s 12 scalps are also the most by a captain in an edition of the T20I tournament. No other captain has taken more than 10 wickets in a single iteration.

Mohammad Amir has recorded the lowest economy rate in a T20 Asia Cup edition (minimum five wickets). He had an economy rate of 5.06 while taking seven wickets for 81 runs in 16 overs across four innings in 2016.
