Key Insights

5: Ricky Ponting occupies the top spot with five ICC trophies. This is the most number of ICC tournaments a player has won. The former Australian batter won three ODI World Cups (1999, 2003 & 2007) and two Champions Trophies (2006 & 2009).

4: Ponting won four of those ICC titles as a skipper, which is the most by a captain. He was Australia’s captain in their four successful tournaments between 2002 and 2011.

3: Over 20 players have won three or more ICC trophies, with 15 of them being Australians. This is the most number of players from a team.

8: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Yuvraj Singh have featured in eight ICC finals, the joint-most among all players.

5: Unfortunately, Kohli and Sharma have ended up on the losing side in five of those matches. This is the joint-most ICC finals lost by a player. Ravindra Jadeja is the other player with five ICC final losses.

6: Years taken by MS Dhoni to complete the set of three ICC white-ball trophies. This is the least time taken by a player to win the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy. Interestingly, all of those titles came when MSD was India’s captain in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy.
