Stats: Teams with Most Wins in ICC Tournaments

ICC tournaments are the pinnacle of cricket. We have the ODI World Cup (CWC), T20 World Cup (T20WC), Champions Trophy (CT), and the World Test Championship (WTC) Final every now and then.

While the WTC Final is a recent addition, several teams have participated in other tournaments. And all teams come with the intention of winning as many matches as possible, leading them closer to the trophy.

In this article, we’ll look at such teams with the most wins in ICC tournaments.

Key Insights

100: Australia and India are the only two teams with more than 100 wins in all ICC tournaments.

70: On the other hand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, and Pakistan have lost more than 70 matches.

1: Australia became the first team to complete the set of winning all major ICC trophies at least once. Interestingly, they are one of the two teams, alongside New Zealand, to have won at least one match in all ICC events.

9: The number of teams that have featured in 100 or more games in ICC tourneys. Seven of them have played 150-plus matches.

21: The number of matches Scotland took to register their first victory. This is the most number of games taken by a team to win a match in ICC tournaments.

15: Australia hold the record for the most consecutive wins in ICC events. Their streak started in the 2006 Champions Trophy with a win over England, while Zimbabwe snapped it in the 2007 T20 World Cup. In between, the Aussies won 15 matches alongside a Champions Trophy and an ODI World Cup. They came well within the distance to level their record in 2024, after having a streak of 14 victories.
