The year 2018 is now over and we welcome the world cup year 2019. In the year 2018, there were 257 international matches played. It includes 48 Test matches, 128 ODIs and 81 T20Is.

Top five players in Test Cricket in 2018:

  1. NATHAN LYON:

He played 10 Test matches and picked 49 wickets. His best bowling figures in a match were 8/106 against India at Perth. He was the fifth highest wicket-taker against South Africa with 16 wickets in four Tests. Moreover, he was the second highest wicket-taker against Pakistan with 12 wickets in two matches. Currently, he is at the 14th position in the ICC Test bowling rankings.

 

  1. DILRUWAN PERERA:

He played 11 Test matches and picked 50 wickets. His best bowling figures in a match were 10/78 against South Africa at Galle, which is his career best. Further, he was the leading wicket-taker against South Africa with 16 wickets in two matches. At present, he is at the 25th position in the ICC Test bowling rankings.

 

  1. KUSAL MENDIS:

He played 12 Test matches and made 1023 runs at an average of 47. His highest score was 196 against Bangladesh at Chittagong, which his career best. Moreover, he was the second highest run-getter against Bangladesh with 271 runs at an average of 90 in two matches. Currently, he is at the 16th position in the ICC Test batting rankings.

 

  1. KAGISO RABADA:

He is the leading wicket-taker of 2018, where he played 10 Test matches and picked 52 wickets. His best bowling figures in a match were 11/150 against Australia at Port Elizabeth. He was the second highest wicket-taker against India with 15 wickets in three matches. Further, he was the leading wicket-taker against Australia with 23 wickets in four matches. At present, he is at the 1st position in the ICC Test bowling rankings.

 

  1. VIRAT KOHLI:

He is the leading run-scorer of 2018, where he played 13 Test matches and made 1322 runs at an average of 55. His highest score was 153 runs against South Africa at Centurion. Moreover, he was the leading run-scorer against South Africa with 286 runs at an average of 48 in three matches. Further, he was also the leading run-scorer against England with 593 runs at an average of 59 in five matches. Currently, he is at the 1st position in the ICC Test batting rankings.

  1. JOE ROOT:

He played 24 matches and made 946 runs at an average of 59. His highest score was 113 not-out against India at Lord’s, London. He was the third highest run-scorer against Australia and New Zealand. Further, he was the leading run-scorer against India with 216 runs at an average of 89 in three matches.  At present, he is at the 4th position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

 

  1. RASHID KHAN:

He is the leading wicket-taker of 2018 with 48 wickets in 20 matches. His best figures were 5/24 against Zimbabwe at Sharjah. He was the leading wicket-taker against Zimbabwe with 16 wickets in five matches. Moreover, he was also the highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup with 10 wickets in five matches. Currently, he is at the 2nd position in the ICC ODI bowling rankings.

 

  1. JONNY BAIRSTOW:

He made 1025 runs at an average of 47 in 22 matches. His highest score was 139 runs against Australia at Nottingham. He was the second highest run-scorer against New Zealand with 302 runs at an average of 60 in five matches.  At present, he is at the 13th position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

 

  1. ROHIT SHARMA:

He played 19 matches and made 1030 runs at an average of 74. His highest score was 162 runs against Windies at Mumbai.  He was the fourth highest run-getter against England with 154 runs at an average of 77 in three matches.  Further, he was the second highest run-getter in the Asia Cup and against Windies, where he averaged above 100. Currently, he is at the 2nd position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

  1. VIRAT KOHLI:

He is the leading run-scorer of 2018 with 1202 runs at an average of 134 in 14 matches. His highest score was 160 runs not-out against South Africa at Cape Town. He was the second highest run-getter against England with 191 runs at an average of 64 in three matches. Moreover,  he was the highest run-getter against South Africa and Windies, where he averaged above 100. At present, he is at the 1st place in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

 

Top five players in T20Is:

  1. SHADAB KHAN:

He played 19 matches and picked 28 wickets. His best figures were 3/19 against Australia at Dubai. He was the leading wicket-taker against the New Zealand and Australia. Currently, he is at the 2nd position in the ICC T20I bowling rankings.

 

  1. FAKHAR ZAMAN:

He played 17 matches and made 576 runs at an average of 34. His highest score was 91 runs against Australia at Harare, which is his career best. He was the second highest run-getter in the tri-series between Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Australia. In this series, he made 278 runs at an average of 56 in five matches. At present, he is at the 5th position in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

  1. ROHIT SHARMA:

He played 19 matches and made 590 runs at an average of 37. His highest score was 111 runs not-out against Windies at Lucknow. He was the second highest run-getter against Windies with 121 runs at an average of 61 in three matches. Moreover, he was the leading run-getter against England with 137 runs at an average of 69 in three matches. Currently, he is at the 10th position in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

 

  1. ANDREW TYE:

He is the leading wicket-taker of 2018 with 31 wickets in 19 matches. His best figures were 4/23 against New Zealand at Sydney. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tri-series between Australia, New Zealand and England. In this series, he took 10 wickets in five matches. Further, he was also the leading wicket-taker in the tri-series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe. In this series, he took 12 wickets in five matches. At present, he is at the 17th position in the ICC T20I bowling rankings.

 

  1. SHIKHAR DHAWAN:

He is the leading run-getter of 2018 with 689 runs at an average of 41 in 18 matches. His highest score was 92 against Windies at Chennai, which is his career best. He was the leading run-getter against South Africa with 143 runs at an average of 48 in three matches. Moreover, he was the leading run-getter against Windies with 138 runs at an average of 46 in three matches. Currently, he is at the 12th position in the ICC T20I batting rankings.
