Key Insights

Only five bowlers have achieved the feat of taking 600 wickets in Test cricket, with Stuart Broad being the latest to join this elite club.

Of the current active bowlers, Nathan Lyon is the most likely to reach the 600-wicket mark in Test cricket. He is currently the leading wicket-taker among all active players and the only one with over 500 wickets in the format.

Muttiah Muralitharan reached the 600-wicket milestone in 101 Tests, having claimed his last 100 scalps in just 14 matches. He is the fastest bowler to reach this mark.

However, Shane Warne was the first bowler to reach 600 wickets, achieving the feat in August 2005. He did so approximately 11 months earlier than Muralitharan.
