Alex Hales holds the record for smashing the highest individual score while chasing in the T20 World Cup. The former England opener scored an unbeaten 116 off 64 in a successful chase of 190 against Sri Lanka. With that, Hales also became the first batter to score a century in the second innings of a T20 World Cup match.
Chris Gayle’s hundred against England in 2016 is the fastest century in the T20 World Cup. He took 47 balls to bring up his 100-run mark in a successful chase of 183 runs.
During his unbeaten 100 against England, Gayle slammed 11 sixes, which is the most in an innings in the World Cup.
Hales, Gayle, and Virat Kohli are the only three batters with multiple scores of 80 or more runs in chases. Hales’ and Gayle’s scores are mentioned above in the table, while Kohli scored 82 runs (not out) each against Australia (2016) and Pakistan (2022).

327.77: This is the highest strike rate by a batter with a 50+ run knock in a chase. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis blasted an unbeaten 59 off 18 deliveries against Sri Lanka in the 2022 edition. Moreover, he reached his fifty in only 17 balls, which is the joint-second fastest half-century in the T20 World Cup.
