CSK registered their highest powerplay score in the IPL in 2014. They put up 100 for 2 in the Qualifier 2 encounter against Kings XI Punjab. This was the first-ever instance of a team scoring 100 runs in the powerplay in the IPL.

This is also the only instance of a team accruing 100 or more runs in the powerplay phase in an IPL playoff game.

87 of the 100 runs came from Suresh Raina’s bat alone. Raina’s 87 runs off 25 balls are the most by a batter in the first six overs of a match in the IPL. Despite Raina’s sensational effort, CSK fell short of winning the match.

CSK have scored 66 or more runs in the powerplay in 15 games. Of those instances, four have come against Kolkata Knight Riders, followed by three against Rajasthan Royals.
