Key Insights – Key Performances from the No. 6 Spot in IPL

Hardik Pandya came pretty close to getting a hundred to his name in the IPL. But he fell short of nine runs to register the highest score at No. 6. Pandya whacked 91 runs off 34 balls for Mumbai Indians (MI) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2019.

Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard are the two No. 6 batters to strike above 300 in an IPL innings (min. 50 runs). While Pooran leads the pack with 326.21 (62 vs RCB, 2023), Pollard struck at exactly 300 (51* vs KKR, 2016).

Pooran has also smacked the fastest fifty at No. 6. He took 15 balls to reach 50 runs on his way to 62.

Pollard has scored the most fifties while batting at No. 6 in the IPL. The Caribbean hitter smashed nine fifties for MI.

Three of Pollard’s half-centuries came against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the joint-most by a No. 6 batter against a single IPL team. MS Dhoni is the other batter with three fifties against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Pollard is also the lead run-getter at No. 6. He aggregated 1372 runs in 61 innings at a strike rate of 151.10.
