Milestone Series Victories
In 2023, Suryakumar Yadav became the third Indian captain to win a five-match T20I series. It was his debut series as captain against Australia.
This was just the second instance of an Asian captain leading his side to a series victory over Australia consisting of at least five T20Is.
After his full-time appointment in July 2024, Surya guided the Men in Blue to a series sweep in Sri Lanka. This was India’s first bilateral T20I series victory against the Lankan Lions in Sri Lanka (minimum two-match series).
In November 2024, Surya became the second captain to take India to a T20I series victory in South Africa.

Surya is the only Indian captain not to lose his first six bilateral series (captained in all matches of the series).
Surya won 16 of his first 20 matches, the joint most by an Indian skipper in T20Is, along with Rohit Sharma.
Earlier in 2025, Surya became the fourth Indian captain to claim 10 wins at home in T20I cricket.
