The Indian team is a powerhouse in T20I cricket, with the best batters, bowlers, and all-rounders being part of the squad. With many talented players at their expense, India is always expected to perform better, either by scoring huge totals or bowling out the opponent early.

And rightfully so, they have delivered mesmerising performances by dominating their opponents in matches both with the bat and ball. The Men in Blue have posted big totals and successfully defended them, recording some of the biggest wins in T20Is.

Key Insights

India registered its first-ever 150+ run margin of victory in T20Is in February 2023. The Indian team defeated New Zealand by a staggering 168 runs, making it their largest win margin in T20Is.

In a T20I match played against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017, India posted a mammoth 260 runs on the board — India’s highest team total in T20Is. While defending the total, India restricted Sri Lanka to 172 runs, winning the game by a margin of 88 runs.

India has successfully defended 200+ totals in over 19 matches, while one game resulted in a tie, which India won following double super overs against Afghanistan. 

The Indian team logged its first 100+ run win margin in 2018 against Ireland. The Men in Blue scored 213 runs in the first innings and skittled Ireland on a mere 70 runs, winning the match by 143 runs.
