Records by Opening and Middle-Order Batters

Four of Rohit Sharma’s hundreds have come against Australia, the most by an overseas batter against Australia at their home in ODIs.

All of Sharma’s centuries came while opening the innings, the most by a visiting opener in ODIs down under.

VVS Laxman scored all three of his centuries in the 2004 VB Series, the most by an Indian batter in an ODI series in Australia.

Kohli and Sharma smashed two centuries each in the 2016 ODI series, the only instance of two batters scoring multiple hundreds in a single bilateral series down under.

Rohit Sharma brought up the highest ODI score by an Indian batter in Australia in the 2016 series, amassing an unbeaten 171 off 163 balls in Perth.

Virat Kohli has smashed the fastest ODI century by an Indian batter in Australia, reaching the 100-run mark off 76 balls on his way to an unbeaten 133 against Sri Lanka in the 2012 Hobart match.

Kohli is the only Indian captain to hit a hundred in Australian conditions in 50-over cricket, bringing up 104 in Adelaide in 2019.
