Many times, it’s because of their exploits in the final over, sides have positive signs of results when it’s their time to defend the target.

David Miller (South Africa), Dipendra Singh Airee (Nepal), and Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka) have smashed 20 or more sixes in the 20th over in T20Is.

Miller and Hardik Pandya (India) are the only batters to smash 14 or more sixes in the 19th as well as the 20th over in T20I cricket.

MS Dhoni has faced 132 balls in the 20th over, the most by any batter in T20Is. 

Dhoni was the first batter to score 250-plus runs in this particular phase. He scored 251 runs at a strike rate of 190.15, with 12 maximums and 22 fours to his name. Miller, Shanaka, and Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka) are the other batters with 200-plus runs in the last over in T20Is.

Record-Breaking Individual Performances in the Final Over

Nepal’s Dipendra Singh is the only batter who has a strike rate above 300 while batting in the 20th over in T20Is (minimum 50 balls faced).

Dipendra Singh has also smashed the most sixes in the 20th over in a T20I innings. He struck six sixes in the last over, accounting for 36 runs, against Qatar’s Kamran Khan in the 2024 ACC Premier Cup. This made him the third batter to hit six sixes in an over in T20Is.
