Key Highlights
Virat Kohli’s Dominance: Kohli is the only player to have crossed 400+ runs in 10+ seasons. His recent form remains prolific, having scored over 600 runs in each of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons. See Virat’s year-wise IPL runs chart here.
Suresh Raina was the first to reach 7 consecutive seasons of 400+ runs (2008–2014). He has since been joined by modern greats like Dhawan, Warner, and Rohit Sharma, along with Virat.
The Next Generation: Players like Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are on their path to challenge the top spots within the next few years given their current scoring rates.
David Warner, the Australian opener, holds the record for the most runs by an overseas player in this tournament. He is also the only non-Indian player to have seven or more 400-plus run seasons, notably winning the Orange Cap three times during these seasons.
Most Consecutive IPL Seasons with 400+ Runs
Raina’s 7-year streak was only joined by Shikhar Dhawan in the following years.
| Player | Streak | Period | Season-wise Runs (Breakdown) |
| Suresh Raina | 7 | 2008–2014 | 421, 434, 520, 438, 441, 548, 523 |
| Shikhar Dhawan | 7 | 2016–2022 | 501, 479, 497, 521, 618, 587, 460 |
| David Warner | 6 | 2013–2020 | 410, 528, 562, 848, 641, (2018 off), 692 |
| KL Rahul | 5 | 2018–2022 | 659, 593, 670, 626, 616 |
Note: David Warner missed the 2018 IPL season due to a one-year ban imposed by Cricket Australia following the infamous “Sandpapergate” ball-tampering scandal.
KL Rahul scored more than 590 runs in each season from 2018 to 2022 meaning his streak of 5 consecutive 400+ seasons was actually a streak of 590+ runs every single time, making it arguably the most dominant sustained run of any batter in that bracket.
Rahul is the only Indian batter to score 500 or more runs in five consecutive IPL seasons (2018 to 2022).
