Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the inaugural champions of the IPL back in 2008. Since then, they have had their ups and downs in the tournament’s history.
The franchise may not have been able to repeat its 2008 feat, but they have served some memorable performances over the years. The Jaipur-based team has always been home to the best batters.
It all started with Shane Watson, Rahul Dravid, and Ajinkya Rahane digging runs. And now, the likes of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag are dismantling bowling attacks.
This article will glance at the top 10 run scorers for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

Key Insights
Sanju Samson became the first batter to accumulate more than 3000 runs for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. The keeper-batter has scored runs at an average of 30 and a good strike rate of close to 140.
Another keeper-batter, Jos Buttler, made himself a name in the IPL while donning the pink jersey. Buttler is the only batter to have notched up five or more centuries for RR in the cash-rich league. Four of those hundreds came in the 2022 season — the joint-most tons in a single season in the IPL.
Moreover, the Englishman has the best batting average among the RR batters with a minimum of 500 runs. Buttler averaged 41.84 with the bat and is the only one with a 40+ average. (Check out Buttler’s year-by-year performance in the tournament here.)
Yusuf Pathan, who was instrumental in Rajasthan’s 2008 final victory, has the highest strike rate (500+ runs). The former Indian all-rounder batted for the Royals in 42 innings, scoring 1011 runs at an astounding strike rate of 161.24.
Watson and Pathan have scored 1000 or more runs for two teams in the IPL. Apart from Rajasthan, Watson minted 1252 runs for Chennai, while Pathan aggregated 1893 for Kolkata.
Over 17 batters have amassed 500 or more runs for the Royals in IPL history.
