The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for its run feast. Batsmen who score in bulk and at a consistent pace will always be the most critical asset of any IPL franchise.
Here we have listed down the batsmen who have gone past 5000 overall runs in the tournament. So far, there have been only eight batters who have crossed this magic number.
The CSKian Suresh Raina was the first player ever to reach 5000 runs in IPL, followed by Virat Kohli. MS Dhoni became the seventh addition to this list after breaching the landmark in the first phase of the 2023 season.

KL Rahul is the fastest to reach 5000 runs in IPL. The Indian batter took just 130 IPL innings to reach the mark, whereas it took 135 innings for David Warner. But Warner was the first-ever overseas batter to reach the 5000-run mark in the league.
Warner played for Delhi Daredevils from 2009 to 2013 before Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him in 2014. He has won the Orange Cap thrice in IPL, which is the highest in the tournament’s history.
Virat Kohli is way ahead of the other contenders in overall run scoring. He is already the first to reach 6000, 7000, and 8000 IPL runs. His best year of 2016 is still the best IPL season for any batsman by a great extent.
