T20Is and centuries are an uncommon pairing; for two reasons.

One, the shortest format, gives much less time for a batter to settle and mature. Two, the bowlers in T20Is are mostly wicket-takers, who bowl the wicket-line than in any other format. You, as a batter, will always be on the verge of getting trapped.

Rohit Sharma was the first batter to smash five centuries in T20I cricket. He was also the first to score more than one T20I century as captain. Three of his five hundreds came while leading India, the joint-most as a skipper in T20Is. (Check Rohit’s hundreds here.)

All five of Glenn Maxwell’s hundreds have come in wins for Australia, the most by a batter in T20Is.

Serbia’s Leslie Dunbar and Samoa’s Darius Visser have scored two centuries each in losses, the joint-most in T20Is.

Three of Maxwell’s centuries came in run chases, the most by a batter in T20I cricket.

Sanju Samson became the first wicketkeeper batter to hammer three centuries in T20I cricket. Serbia’s Dunbar and Salt have two hundreds each as keeper-batters.

Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan has smashed the fastest T20I century, getting to the 100-run mark off 27 balls against Cyprus in 2024.

Ireland’s Paul Stirling, on the other hand, has scored the slowest T20I century, taking 70 balls to reach 100 against Zimbabwe in 2021.

Australia’s Aaron Finch has racked up the highest individual score in T20Is, bringing up 172 against Zimbabwe in the 2018 Harare T20I.

Youngest, Oldest, and Consecutive T20I Century Feats

France’s Gustav Mckeon is the youngest batter to score a T20I century, bringing up 109 against Switzerland at 18 years and 280 days in 2022. 

Gibraltar’s Balaji Pai, on the other hand, is the oldest batter to smash a T20I hundred, smashing an unbeaten 107 against Bulgaria at 39 years and 272 days in 2021.

Mckeon followed his 109 with 101 against Norway in the next match, making him the first batter to score T20I centuries in consecutive matches.

England’s Phil Salt (109* & 119 vs WI, 2023) and India’s Tilak Varma (107* & 120 vs SA, 2024) are the two batters to smash consecutive T20I centuries against the same opposition.
